Get Back on Track

Okay, so the holiday celebrations took their tole and you may have had one to many cookies, drinks, and feast this weekend.  And maybe you are feeling a little round and bloated like this guy

And for many of us, it was more than one day, it was a weekend of sugar coated, carb encrusted, trans fat ladened food fest. And most people are laying around in a food coma, feeling lethargic, low energy, and craving just one more cooking.

Well now it’s time to SNAP OUT OF IT! Don’t hesitate to get back on track right away or you can kiss your health and fitness success good bye.

Here are a few tips to get out of binge mode and back to clean eating:

1) Eat a healthy protein rich, low carb breakfast. This will kick off the day on the right foot. Your blood sugar is out of whack, so you need to reign it in.

2) Workout! All the toxic food is making you feel sluggish. Get moving to not only boost your energy, but get your body metabolizing optimally.

3) Eat mini meals every 2 to 3 hours. These meals must contain protein, healthy fats, and greens. Your insulin is going crazy and more than likely you are a sugar craving maniac. Use the mini meals to rebalance your body.

4) Got Water?? Yes, drink lots of water to help your body eliminate toxins and rehydrate your body.

5) Rest. If you have been partying all night long, give you body the rest it needs. Usually when we are over tired, we reach for sugar for a quick burst of energy.

Got Motivation?

Motivation.  It comes and it goes.  Feel like working out?  Not really, I’m not motivated.  I don’t feel like it.  Sound familiar?

So where does this motivation come from?  Well I can tell you where it does not come from?  Don’t look for it in fad diets that you follow for 4 weeks doing bizarre liquid drinks and by day 4 your done.  And don’t even think, about being motivated by some TV show where people are expected to lose 10 or more pounds in  a week.  Or don’t even think about doing it for someone else.  To impress your spouse, a friend, a coworker.  To go the long haul you need to look deeper than that.  To find motivation you need to answer one question.  One question that you can only answer.

Why….. Why is making this change important to me?

And then listen…..

You may at first hear, I want to wear my skinny jeans.  Or I want to look hot on the beach.  But once these fake reasons get out of the way, then the real reasons come in:

It may be that……..

Eating a healthy diet improves my mood and I am nicer to my spouse every day.

I want to live each day to the fullest and taking care of myself is the first step in doing that.

I feel trapped in this body and I want to be active until I am 115 years old.

Wow, my Aunt just died of _______ disease.  I don’t want that to happen to me.

Listen and figure out your why to make a change.  And use that to fuel your change.

This real motivation is key to keeping you on track and off the roller coaster.  It will help you make your eating healthy a lifestyle change and working out a habit.  Health will be the foundation of your life, and from there you will have energy and functionality to life your life to the fullest.  Carpe Diem!

For all of you doing the Transformation Contest, find out this WHY and it will fuel the fire not only for the next 12 weeks but for the rest of your life!
